San Diego: Quarantine Edition!
Carlsbad Strawberry Fields
Quarantine has given us plenty of time to explore our home town. I’m sure you are aware but most shopping areas and other activities are still currently closed. To our delightful surprise, Carlsbad Strawberry Fields are still open for strawberry picking.
The Carlsbad Strawberry Fields have huge signs posted along the road stating they are open. Once you reach the parking lot and walk towards the booth to pay, you will notice signs exclaiming “maintain social distance” and “masks mandatory.”
Once we got to the front of the line, we purchased the “Big” bucket for $22 which included admission for two adults. We entered the fields and noticed there were dozens of people along the rows of strawberries so we chose to pick amongst the last field closest to the freeway.
Although there were many other strawberry pickers, there were enough rows throughout the fields so that only one group was in each row. This made it capable for everyone to maintain a safe distance and comfortably pick strawberries.
To fill a large bucket, it took two full rows of walking from one end to the other and resulted in a hefty amount of strawberries. My arm was starting to feel sore once the bucket was filled to the top. After filling our large bucket with the brightest red and most plump strawberries we have ever seen, we finally headed towards the car.
If you are interested in strawberry picking, I recommend visiting them as soon as you can before strawberry season ends!
